Day Trip to Orroli and its archaeological site, departing from Cagliari

The beautiful island of Sardinia is well known for its transparent sea and its white beaches. But in its inner mountain area Sardinia preserves natural and historic treasures of incomparable value… Our half-day tour from Cagliari will take you to the discovery of its ancient origins, with a visit to Orroli and its archaeological site.

A guided tour to visit the nuraghe in Sardinia

We will depart early in the morning from the beautiful city of Cagliari to head towards the inner mountain area of Orroli. Traveling aboard our comfortable mini-bus you will have the opportunity to admire the colors and the landscapes of the "Trexenta" hills and the Sarcidano region.   Finally, we will reach the basalt of Pranemuru where flows the Flumendosa river and where stands the ancient Nuraghe Arrubiu (which means “Red Nuraghe”, because of the color of the basalt).

Discover the ancient origins of the Sardinian nuraghe

The stone towers known as “nuraghe” are one of the least known, but most remarkable legacies of the Stone Age. Those incredible ruins exist only in Sardinia, and they are considered one of the world’s greatest unknown treasures.
Our expert tour guide will tell you the fascinating story of Nuragic people and their fine architecture, and the Nuraghe Arrubiu is one of the finest example: one of the most important nuraghe on the island, the only one with a five-lobed structure up to now known.

A half- day tour to Sardinia to discover its ancient origins

The visit to the complex of the Nuraghe Arrubiu, whose origins are lost in the ancient history of Sardinia, will allow you to visit the traces of the Phoenician and Roman times: in the yard, in fact, was found a compartment for winemaking, dating to the 2nd century BC.   At the end of the trail, surrounded by the lovely landscape of Sarcidano countryside, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a tasting of local wine, before returning to Cagliari.
