With our exciting excursion departing from Naples, you can explore in a single epic day two of the most important archaeological sites in the world: both the ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum, both ancient Roman towns completely destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD.
With this extraordinary day trip, departing from Naples, you will have the opportunity to explore two ancient Roman towns: Pompeii and Herculaneum, both completely destroyed by the terrible eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD.
With the transfer service by minibus, included in the tour, you will leave from the center of Naples to Pompeii: there you will meet your professional guide who will lead you in an extraordinary excursion through the ruins of the city, very well preserved thanks to the fact that it was completely submerged (for nearly 10 meters!) from lava and ashes of Vesuvius. You will visit the old houses and the most important buildings of Pompeii, and see the human casts - like statues - set in motion in which the victims of the eruption were doing.
After the guided tour of Pompeii, you will visit a traditional workshop of cameos and coral, and you will have the unique opportunity to observe the process of artisans and buy the products you like. Then you will go for lunch at a local restaurant, just few steps away from the lab, where you can taste delicious local products.
After lunch you will go to the ruins of Herculaneum, another Roman city that suffered the same tragic fate of Pompeii: in this case, the disastrous eruption of Vesuvius in that morning during 79 AD, submerged the whole town, keeping it intact to this day. Exploring the ruins with the audio-guide (included in the tour), you will learn everything about the history of Herculaneum, admiring with your own eyes what is considered one of the most important archaeological sites in the world.
At the end of the excursion you will come back to Naples by bus.
Meeting point information and local telephone numbers at your destination are included on your Confirmation Voucher.
We suggest wearing comfortable clothes and shoes. In summer, remember to bring a hat and a bottle of water; in autumn/winter, don't forget an umbrella.
The tour-guide is included only for the tour of Pompeii, while for the tour of Herculaneum audio-guides will be provided.
