The City of Pisa

Pisa is famous for its leaning tower of Pisa but it is also well known in its ancient times, for its strategic place straddling the River Arno that flows into the Tyrrhenian Sea. Beautiful, rich in history and a cultural hub, Pisa was a commercial center, therefore you can find many cultural mixtures and attractions. Although much of it being destroyed during World War II, yet the restoration has retained much of its originality.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa

Undoubtedly, no trip to Pisa would be complete without marveling the most famous landmark in the city, the Leaning Tower. The tower is the bell tower of the nearby Cathedral: though due to ground subsidence, which occurred in the early stages of the project, the structure has slid to the side and thus sealed the fate of the tower for eternity, making it the most famous symbol of Pisa in the world. At the end of the guided tour, you will board the coach or the minivan again to come back to Livorno Port on time to board your cruise ship.

The Cathedral

During this tour you will have the chance to enter the Cathedral of Pisa, a masterpiece of Italian Renaissance architecture. This stunning structure, whose construction was commenced in the eleventh century provides a perfect backdrop for the famous postcard view of Pisa. The Cathedral houses several works of art, including paintings and sculptures made by some of the most important Italian artists of the Renaissance, including the San Ranieri door from 1180. The best view of the Cathedral is from the Baptistery.
