This 5-day guided Tour of Sicily has been created to show you the most fascinating sites in the country. You will spend 5 days experiencing the lives of the Sicilian people and learning more about the culture of the country.
Day 1: Palermo
Independent arrival at the hotel in Palermo. Welcome cocktail, dinner included and overnight.
Day 2: Erice, Marsala (visit of a winery and wine tasting), Agrigento
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel, departure to Erice, a medieval village located on Monte San Giuliano. It is said that the village has not changed much from the 6th century. Erice has a special labyrinth from the tangled lanes, perfect to enjoy a little 'fresh morning air': you will have the possiblity to taste the famous almond paste. Please note that in case of difficult access to the city, the tour will be replaced by the visit of Trapani. Then you will arrive in Marsala, a city on the west coast famous for the production of Sicilian sweet wine. Here you will have a wine tasting in a prestigious winery, where you will be informed about local production. You will have lunch in a typical local restaurant and, in the afternoon, continue to Agrigento and visit the famous "Valley of the Temples", declared World Heritage by UNESCO. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Piazza Armerina, Acireale, Catania area
After breakfast at the hotel, you will depart to visit Piazza Armerina: here you will visit the Villa Romana del Casale, a UNESCO site that contains a treasure of 3500 square meters of mosaics. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will arrive in Acireale and visit its famous baroque historic center: from Piazza del Duomo (with its two famous churches), to the Cathedral of Saint Venera and the Saint Peter's Basilica. Once finished the visit, you will head towards the hotel in Catania area. Dinner and accommodation in the hotel.
Day 4: Mount Etna (honey tasting), Taormina, Catania area
After breakfast, you will visit Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in the world (weather conditions permitting). Arrived at an altitude of 1900 meters, you can enjoy a wonderful panaroma across Sicily before arriving at the spectacular "Monti Silvestri", small craters that have been inactive for a century and now are surrounded by the lava of the last eruptions. Afterwards, you will stop at Zafferana Etnea, which is located on the slopes of Etna: here you can visit a local laboratory and have a honey tasting. In case of adverse weather conditions, the excursion will be modified with a stop at about 700 meters. After lunch (included), you will visit Taormina, the pearl of Sicilian tourism, famous for its natural landscape, its marine beauties and its historical monuments and the Greek Theater. In the afternoon, you will have free time to join it on your own. At the end of the day, you will return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Catania area
After breakfast at the hotel, end of the tour.
