A whole day tour includes a wonderful tour to Borghese Gallery to view private art collections of Raphael, Caravaggio, Titians, Canova and Bernini. Then stroll through the famous Borghese Park to Pincio Terrace for a panoramic view and onto Trinità dei Monti to descend the legendary Spanish stairs. After lunch, we will embark to visit the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and lastly the St. Peter’s Basilica. The tour ends in St. Peter’s Square surrounded by Bernini’s Colonnade.
Borghese Gallery
The tour will begin visiting one of the richest private art collections, hold in the Borghese Gallery, a magnificent Palace located inside the Villa Borghese, one of the biggest parks of Rome. Here in the Borghese Gallery, it houses many masterpieces of artists such as Caravaggio paintings, Raphael, Titians, Canova’s and Bernini’s sculptures. Among the most famous artworks, you will recognize the sculpture of Paolina Borghese by Canova, the Apollo and Dafne by Bernini and many more. From there, the day tour will continue by taking a stroll through the Borghese Park to Pincio Terrace for an exciting panoramic view of Rome. Then onwards to the Trinità dei Monti descending the legendary Spanish stairs into Piazza di Spagna, just before lunch.
Lunch and Vatican Museums
After a good lunch made of typical Italian dishes, we will begin our grand tour of the Vatican Museums going through 50 plus art galleries. Your expert guide will lead you and the other people part of the small group to admire the largest Renaissance art collection from the masters such as Michelangelo, Raphael, Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Caravaggio, Bernini and Perugino. Not missing the most important treasure house of Sistine Chapel by Michelangelo and find out the connections between Papal elections and Sistine Chapel.
St. Peter’s Basilica
Once finished at the Vatican Museums, you will be directed into St. Peter’s Basilica skipping the entrance line to admire the great La Pieta by Michelangelo. Take the opportunity to view the impressive architectural design of the basilica and at the centre of the Basilica is the Baldachin Altar by Bernini. The day tour will end in St. Peter’s Square amongst Bernini’s Colonnade, from where you can admire and have an overall view of the St. peter's square, which is probably the most famous square of Rome.
