Day trip to Pompeii and Naples with gourmet lunch from Rome
Travel in a small tour group and start a great day with a trip to Naples and Pompeii departing from Rome. The first stop will be a guided walking tour in the ruins of Pompeii and after lunch, a visit to Naples and its superb Gulf.
Small group from Rome
The day trip will start in the centre of Rome, where you will join the small group people travelling by an air conditioning minivan. An English-speaking assistant will travel with you for the entire duration of the trip, to give you directions and information. On the way to Campania region, where Naples and Pompeii are located, you will have coffee, water and refreshments.
Walking tour in Pompeii
Your first stop will be at the Pompeii archeological site where you will have a 2 hour walking tour with a professional guide. After accessing by jumping the queue, thanks to the tickets included in the tour pakage, the guide will lead you through an educative discussion of ancient Rome and how the Romans lived before the great eruption of Mount Vesuvius that destroyed the town. You will also visit the major areas in Pompeii just like the Macellum and the Thermal Baths; these were areas Romans would gather to have dinner and also was the location of homes of the wealthy.
Lunch and visit of Naples
After Pompeii, you will also stop over for a gourmet lunch and tasting of local products,which is quite mandatory in this area of Italy, famous for the deliciuos food (not only pizza!). Then, you will be ready to moving towards Naples, where you will have the chance to admire the breathtaking view on the Gulf of Naples, dominated by the volcano. You must take a lot of pictures here! You will then have some time to stroll around the beautiful city center with a professional guide, that will show you also some off-the-beaten-path attractions, with its picturesque corners and perhaps to have a good Neapolitan coffee (only espresso!) paired with a "sfogliatella", a typical Neapolitan dessert.
At the end of the day the minivan will bring you back to Rome.
