Grand Canal Tour of Venice

Be amazed by the incredible views of Venice from the Grand Canal viewpoint. Any local will tell you that Venice needs to be seen from the water, but if you’re planning on floating down the Grand Canal, gondolas simply aren’t powerful enough. We’ll cruise past all of Venice’s most jaw-dropping basilicas, palaces, and bridges; including St. Mark’s Square, the Doge’s Palace, the Bridge of Sighs, the Cemetery of San Michele, the Rialto Bridge, the Rialto Fish Market, the Accademia Bridge, the Cà d’Oro and Cà Pesaro palaces, the Madonna dell’Orto Church, and the Salute Church. As we pass each site, your guide will share stories of the unique maritime history that shaped this amazing city.

The Gem of San Giorgio Island

Our next visit will be Venice’s rarely-visited gems, the San Giorgio Maggiore Island, where the famous massive oil painting of Wedding of Cana by Mannerist Italian painter Paolo Veronese was commissioned by the Benedictine Monastery in 1526. Being stolen by Napoleon, it is now in full displayed in the National Museum of Paris. This island that held fewer tourists is the perfect place for a true exploration of the Venetian atmosphere. After that, we will head off to the Basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore, where postcard pictures of Venice are taken across the water towards St. Mark’s Square.

Vista of Venice from Bell Tower

After seeing the inside of the stunning Basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore, you will have the option to climb the Bell Tower (or take the elevator) with an all-inclusive ticket. At the top of the tower you can admire the dome of St. Mark’s Basilica, St. Mark’s Square as well as the Doge’s Palace. Soak in the incredible vista of the city that stretches ahead of you.
