Day 1: Sorrento, Castellana Caves, Alberobello

Eat breakfast on your own, then meet at a pre-determined location or arrange for us to pick you up at your centrally located hotel. Depart from Sorrento and head toward the day's first stop, the Castellana Caves in Puglia.
The most famous caves in Italy, the Grottos of Castellana are a stunning natural wonder. Wind along the paths inside the caves for 3 kilometers on a 2-hour guided tour. Marvel at the stalactites, stalagmites, fossils, crystals, concretions and more found within this remarkable karst cave.
Arrive in Alberobello. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Alberobello is known for its prehistoric "Trulli" buildings. A one-of-a-kind sight, Trulli houses have a cone-shaped stone roofs.  After this intriguing visit, proceed to Castellana Caves, where you will dine and stay for the night, resting up for the next day of adventures.

Day 2: Castellana Caves, Lecce, Gallipoli, Ostuni, Castellana Caves

After breakfast at the hotel, head to the historic city of Lecce. This beautiful Baroque town  is awash in architectural masterpieces, carved from local sandstone. Nicknamed "The Florence of the South", Lecce has much to offer. Tour the town and admire sites such as the Church of the Holy Cross, a 2nd century Roman amphitheater, the Celestini Palace, and Lecce's cathedral, which is one of the most significant cathedrals in the country.
After Lecce, board the bus and progress to Gallipoli, whose Greek name means "beautiful city."  Gallipoli is a stunning peninsula and features an old town constructed on an island of limestone, connected to mainland Italy by a bridge. We'll break for lunch in this fishing town, where you'll be able to find an abundance of fresh and delicious seafood.
Finally, we'll progress to our last destination, the village of Ostuni, also known as "The White Town" due to its walls and houses which are all painted white. Pause to take a look around this village known for its pristine beaches, acclaimed historical architecture and ornate Baroque churches. Finally, return to the hotel in Castellana Caves, where you will dine once more and stay overnight.

Day 3: Castellana Caves, Matera, Sorrento or Rome

After an American-style buffet breakfast at the hotel, depart for Matera. Sometimes called "The Subterranean City", Matera is well known for its historical center, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Matera's historic center contains prehistoric "Sassi", or houses built into stone, which are thought to be from one of the first settlements in Italy. Because of the Sassi's odd resemblance to ancient sites around Jerusalem, various movies have been filmed here.
Grab a quick snack in Matera, then board the bus for Pompeii. From here, you can board another bus and head back to Rome or Sorrento to end the tour.
