This wonderful horseback riding experience takes place in Capitana, a splendid sea-side area at about 25 kilometers from Cagliari, on the way to the most famous beaches and resorts in the South-East Coast of Sardinia (such as Solanas, Villasimius and Costa Rey).
Enjoy a horseback riding in the South-East Sardinia
The horse-riding center of Capitana has five docile, reliable and prepared horses: two of them are Anglo-Arab Sardinian, the typical race of the island, with a lively temper and much resistance; one pure-bred; one gorgeous Friesian, in her shiny black coat and gentle temper; and finally, the last one is a rare Akhal-Teke, with a sweet and reliable temper.
All the equipment (which is included in the excursion) is based on English-riding style.
Choose your path and immerse yourself in the wild Sardinian nature
Once you’ll be ready to start your horseback riding, you will have to choose between the two following routes:
- NURAGHE TOUR: which will take you to closely discover some nuraghe, the ancient millenary Sardinian stone constructions, dating back to the second millennium BC (the Bronze Age!). In particular, you will have the opportunity to admire and take pictures to the splendid nuraghi complex of S'Orixeddu.
- SUNSET TRAIL: which takes place only during the hours of sunset (variable depending on season). Through this itinerary you will admire the beautiful sunsets on the Gulf of the Angels (the Gulf of Cagliari): a true spectacle of nature, with stunning colors and breathtaking views in all seasons.
Around the green hills covered with oleander, olive trees, eucalyptus and Mediterranean vegetation, overlooking the blue sea of the Gulf, every day, both in summer and in winter, you can admire magical sunsets.
A horseback riding excursion in the wildness of Sardinian
The horse riding center of Capitana is situated on a farm, where once stood a herd of dairy cows. Guests can use a rectangular field of sand (20x40 meters), two upholstery, 12 horse boxes, office, large paddocks. The horses are admitted in the box only for foraging, while in the rest of the day they enjoy freedom in the fields. The farm fields house the pastures for the horses, crops of cereals, pulses, vegetable garden, an orange grove, surrounded by olive trees and Mediterranean vegetation, with the scents of cistus, mastic and wild lavender. In spring, the bushes are covered with typical white flowers.
