Enjoy exploring the most evocative sites on this 7 day tour of Southern Italy from Rome. All of your transport and accommodation will be taken care of as you make your way down the Amalfi Coast and stop in Naples and Pompeii, before a whistle-stop tour around Sicily. This is not a round trip tour, and you’ll end your trip in Palermo.
Day 1: Rome – Amalfi – Sorrento – Naples
This exciting 7 day tour of Southern Italy starts at a meeting point in Rome, and you’ll be given plenty of notice where it is. You’ll board a bus down to the Amalfi Coast: you will first stop in Amalfi for a panoramic city tour, then to the famous Sorrento through the panoramic road that will allow us to admire from the top the famous village of Positano. In Sorrento you’ll visit the winding streets of the historic centre, before you go to Naples for dinner and overnight at the Hotel.
Day 2: Naples – Capri – Naples
After breakfast at the Hotel, this day will be dedicated to the incredible island of Capri, if wheather permits. You will take a jetfoil to Capri where you’ll have the whole free day to enjoy this beautiful island, wiht luncha t your leisure. There are several spots on the island perfect for taking panoramic photos, so make sure you don’t forget your camera! After the day in Capri you will take the hydrofoil to get back to Naples, for dinner and overnight at the Hotel.
Day 3: Naples – Pompeii – Tropea Area
The third day of your 7 day tour of Southern Italy sees you head to one of the most unique and incredible sites in the entire country: the ancient town of Pompeii. You’ll have a guided tour of the town which was obliterated during the last eruption of Vesuvius in 79AD before heading to the region of Calabria, stopping on the way for lunch (not included in the cost of the tour). You will then reach the fascinating city of Tropea, where you’ll have free time to visit the Old Town. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel in Tropea area.
Day 4: Tropea Area – Reggio Calabria – Taormina – Syracuse
It’s the last part of your 7 day tour of Southern Italy where you’ll be on the mainland! After breakfast the the Hotel you will head to the island of Sicily! But before you cross the Strait of Messina to Italy, you will stop in Reggio Calabria to admire the stunning statues called "Bronzi di Riace". After passing the Strait of Messina, the first Sicily stop will be in Taormina, where you will have free time to visit the city, including the Greco – Roman Theatre. Lunch at your leisure. After the visit of Taorimna, you will head to Syracuse, where you’ll have dinner and overnight at the Hotel.
Day 5: Syracuse – Piazza Armerina – Agrigento
After breakfast at the Hotel, it will time to explore the charming centre of Syracuse. You will be astounded by the Baroque architecture of the historic centre, named Ortigia after seeing the Ancient Greek archaeological park.After that, you’ll then visit the city of Piazza Armerina and its incredible mosaics in the Villa del Casale. Lunch at your leisure. The last stop of the day will be Agrigento, where you will have time to start exploring the city before dinner and overnight at the Hotel.
Day 6: Agrigento – Monreale – Palermo
Your final day sees you visit first the Unesco listed Valley of the Temples of Agrigento, home to some of the best-preserved Ancient Greek temples left in the world. You will then continue to Monreale, admiring its beautiful Cathedral. Your last stop is Palermo, where you can make the most of your time in the historic centre with a wonderful guided tour to visit the main attractions of the centre!
Day 7: Palermo
After breakfast, end of the our services. That marks the end of your 7 day tour of Southern Italy!
