Nero has ordered the construction of a royal complex, which included great vineyards, pastures and woods, an artificial lake, treasures looted from the cities of the Orient. Moreover, the Golden Palace had precious ornaments. The walls were covered in fine varieties of marble, and the vaults were decorated with gold and precious stones.
