DAY 1- PALERMO
The naturalistic tour in Sicily with rental car will start in Palermo: after having checked in at the hotel, in the late afternoon, you will discover Palermo on a “street food” tour, accompanied by a guide who will take you to discover the city of Palermo and its vibrant daily life from a different perspective; strolling through the darkest alleys of its historical center.
DAY 2 – PALERMO – ISOLA DELLE FEMMINE
After breakfast at the hotel, you will have time to enjoy Palermo, which bears witness to the Arab-Norman period. Do not miss the Cathedral and the Martorana Church, which is considered one of the most beautiful and important medieval Byzantine churches in Italy. if you are looking for an oasis of tranquility, we suggest you continue towards the nearby Isola delle Femmine (Female Island); a small town located among two Natural Park and bathed by a clear-sea. DAY 3 – CEFALÚ – TERRASINI
After breakfast at the hotel, the self-drive tour will move to Cefalú, a beautiful little fishing village overlooking the Mediterranean and famous for its Norman Cathedral. In the afternoon you will continue to the picturesque seaside village of Terrasini; We recommend spending the day on the beautiful cliffs of Cala Rossa or on a small free beach at the end of the town's promenade. Overnight stay in Castellammare del Golfo.
DAY 4 - RISERVA DELLO ZINGARO – SAN VITO LO CAPO
The fourth day of this self-drive tour, you will be directed to the Riserva Naturale dello Zingaro (Natural Reserve dello Zingaro) to enjoy the most amazing views and clear-sea. It is extended from Castellammare Golf to San Vito Lo Capo; 7 kilometers of coves and bays surrounded by white pebbles and crystal-clear water. Overnight in Castellammare del Golfo.
Day 5 – ERICE – MOTHIA – MARSALA
The fifth day of the self-drive tour will lead you to the extreme tip of western Sicily: Erice, a charming medieval village. The day continues with a visit to a small but wonderful island; Mothia Island, an ancient Phoenician colony founded in the 8th century BC. DAY 6 -SELINUNTE – ERACLEA MINONA – TORRE SALSA
Our naturalistic itinerary to discover Sicily is headed to the ancient Greek city of Selinunte. You will immerse yourself in an incredible landscape in front of the Mediterranean Sea, where you will walk across the ruins of the ancient acropolis. On your way to Agrigento, make a stop at Eraclea Minona, an ancient Selinuntina colony founded in the 6th century. Continuing to Siculiana Marina, the beautiful and unspoiled Natural Reserve of Torre Salsa emerges. Overnight stay in Agrigento.
DAY 7: SCALA DEI TURCHI – VALLE DEI TEMPI
After breakfast, you will be headed to Realmonte Coast, close to Empedocle Port; here you will be able to swim near the Scala dei Turchi area, a distinctive white rock face (cliff) that rises in the shape of a tip facing the sea. In the afternoon you should visit the famous Valle dei Tempi, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site: a path between mythology, history and nature. Overnight stay in Agrigento.
Day 8 – PUNTA SECCA – SAMPIERI – RAGUSA IBLA
Punta Secca it’s that beautiful corner of Sicily that you will have the opportunity to visit in this day of trip after your breakfast at the Hotel. Here life is accompanied by the sound and the foam of the waves during clear sunrises and beautiful sunsets. Afterwards, you will visit the Fornace Penna, located in Pisciotto area in Sampieri. You will be able to spend the afternoon to admire the beauty of Ragusa Ibla, ancient city centre of Ragusa and UNESCO Heritage since 2002. Overnight stay in Noto.
DAY 9 – VENDICARI WILDLIFE OASIS – MARZAMEMI
The Vendicari Oasis, declared an Oriented Natural Reserve, is one of the few places where is still possible to observe the typical Mediterranean vegetation in all its splendour. In the afternoon you will continue to Marzamemi, a small fishing village that develops entirely on the coast and its foundation dates back to around the year 1000, when the Arabs built here the Tonnara (Tuna fishery), which for many centuries was the main one in the whole Eastern Sicily. Overnight stay in Noto.
DAY 10 – RESERVA DE CAVAGRANDE DEL CASSIBILE – ESTANQUES DI AVOLA – NOTO
Breakfast at the Hotel and departure to the Natural Reserve of Cavagrande del Cassibile, one of the most famous and beautiful protected naturalistic area of Syracuse Province, also well-known for the enchanting Avola Ponds. Afterwards you will be headed to Noto, stroll through its narrow streets framed by baroque-style buildings and panoramic views. Do not forget to visit the church and the Monastery. Overnight stay in Noto.
DAY 11 - SIRACUSA – ORTIGIA – RIVIERA DEI CICLOPI
Breakfast at the hotel and departure towards Syracuse, UNESCO Heritage, to visit the most important and powerful Greek colony in Sicily: Neapolis Archaeological Park. A visit to Ortigia is a must; you will remain amused by the harmony of the buildings in Plaza Duomo. In the afternoon you will be headed to Etna area, with a technical stop at the suggestive Riviera dei CiclopIi (Riviera of the Cyclops), called in this way due to the rocks that emerge from the sea and watch the fishing villages of Acicastello and Aci Trezza. Overnight stay in Taormina.
DAY 12 – TAORMINA – GIARDINI NAXOS
Perched on a cliff, Taormina overlooks an enchanting turquoise sea. You will walk through the historic streets of Taormina and head to the enchanting Greco-Roman theatre, from where you can enjoy the breathtaking panorama over the Gulf of Naxos and the privileged view of Etna. In the afternoon, we recommend visiting Giardini Naxos, small village that can be reached on foot from Taormina and located in a small bay surrounded by sweet and green hills. Overnight stay in Taormina.
DAY 13 – ETNA- THE GORGES OF ALCANTARA
This day, the self-drive tour with rental car will lead you to Etna, the most active volcano in Europe. Go to the Silvestri Craters, dormant volcanoes and channels formed by lava flows. In the afternoon, continue to the Gorges of Alcantara, a volcanic canyon with extensions of intense black volcanic rocks. We are talking about a real canyon, bathed by the clear waters of the Alcantara river, which rises in Etna. Overnight stay in Taormina.
DAY 14 – CATANIA – CATANIA AIRPORT
