Quaint Tremezzo Village
From Como, we will be transferred by car to the quaint village of Tremezzo, where the Italian writer, Mario Soldati, wrote the screenplay for the 1941 movie entitled "Piccolo mondo antico", with the help of two famous Italian directors, Carlo Pontin and Alberto Lattuada. This screenplay was written based on the famous novel but the italian writer Antonio Fogazzaro.
Guided Visit to Villa Carlotta
A guided tour of the 18th century mansion that was commissioned by Marquis Clericis and was built in a natural basin that is between the lake and the mountains, will follow. The villa holds a collection of the neoclassical art works of Antonio Canova, Bertel Thorvaldsen and Francesco Hayez. Throughout our tour of Villa Carlotta, we will see some examples of furniture from the Napoleonic Italian Republic era. In 1834 the villa was sold to the wife of Prince Albert of Prussia. He later gave it to her daughter, Charlotta, who was fond of botanics and enriched the park with environmental values.
17th century Villa Balbianello
After this, we will be transferred back to Lido di Lenno beach for a lunch break. From there, we will take a taxi-boat to the 17th century delightful Villa Balbianello. This late Baroque style mansion is surrounded by a magnificent park which has been chosen as the set for shooting films such as Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones in the year 2002 and another James Bond franchise movie, Casino Royale in the year 2006. Also we will see the most magnificent view from the top of the promontory.
