Discover Naples and its attractions

In the last few years Naples has become one of the favourite destinations for all those Italian and foreign tourists who love spending their holidays in cities of artistic interest. Naples’s distinctive mark is its folklore: people living and working among the artistic beauties of the City. With your private guide you can walk through Spaccanapoli, the main street that divides in two the city center; visit the Church of Gesù Nuovo or the San Domenico Maggiore Church, the Dome of Naples and San Lorenzo Church.

Visit the church of Pio Monte della Misericordia

The private tour will continue by walking through via dei Tribunali (the Decumano centrale of ancient Neapolis) with a stop at the Pio Monte della Misericordia, where it will be possible to admire the extraordinary work by Caravaggio called: “Le Sette Opere di Misericordia”. The Cappella del Pio Monte della Misericordia is worth stopping off at before diving into the old city proper, the church of the charity of the same name (still-functioning but originally seventeenth-century), a beautiful octagonal structure, with paintings by Caravaggio and Luca Giordano. You can also visit the organization's picture gallery upstairs, which overlooks the church.

Admire Caravaggio's work and the Veiled Christ

What is the "The Seven Works of Mercy"?  is an oil painting by Italian painter Caravaggio, about 1607. The guide will explain you that the painting depicts the seven corporal works of mercy in traditional Catholic belief, which are a set of compassionate acts concerning the material needs of others. The painting is better seen from il "coreto" (little choir) in the first floor of the church of Pio Monte della Misericordia. You will then proceed with your guide to the Cappella Sansevero, where the famous "Veiled Christ sculpture" is hosted. The sculpture was built by Giuseppe Sanmartino in 1653, which strikes above all for the perfection of the veil that covers the figure of Christ, which at first glance is so thin as to seem true!
