3 Days "Slow Food" Tour of Tuscany around Coll d'Elsa and Montalcino

Departing from Siena, we will arrive in the city of Colle Val d’Elsa and get to taste their traditional Tuscan products and regional wine at Fattoria Tregole in the village of Castellina in Chianti. We will also visit Montalcino and have lunch at Osteria di Porta al Cassero. Later we will stopover at Fattoria dei Barbi to visit the historical cellars that house barrels of Brunello wines and later, we will have a guided tasting of the Brunello wines accompanied with some local Tuscan delicacies. 

Day 1 – Colle Val d’Elsa

Upon Arrival in Siena, you will be transferred to Colle Val d’Elsa to check in to the Palazzo San Lorenzo Hotel. Before the evening, take a stroll around the ancient village and the monumental Porta Nova. Visit the notable 15th century Palazzo Usimbardi, Palazzo Campana and Palazzo Buoninsegni to discover the long historical value of the village that has been preserved from medieval times.
In the evening you will be treated to Tuscan traditional, local and seasonal Slow Food Presidium products combined with a selection of regional wines at the Fattoria Tregole farmhouse on the hillside village of Castellina, the heart of Chianti.

Day 2 – Montalcino

In the morning, we will head for Montalcino, a hill town that is famous for its Brunello di Montalcino wine. Their red wines are highly regarded and disputed to be amongst the best in the world. We will make a little hike in the hills surrounding Montalcino before heading for lunch at the Osteria di Porta al Cassero. It is a family run hostelry which is in the stables of an ancient fortress. This quaint Slow Food restaurant has a traditional menu that is based on local and seasonal produce. Lunch is accompanied with wine from the hills that are surrounding Montalcino. 
After lunch take some free time to visit the magnificent old town centre of Montalcino. Head for the Mastio della Rocca where the Enoteca La Fortezza is located. Here some excellent local honey can be bought which is the real specialty of the town. Later we will stop over at the prestigious Fattoria dei  Barbi to visit the historical cellars that have housed barrels of Brunello since 1892. Enjoy a guided tasting of their prestigious Brunello wines accompanied with some local Tuscan delicacies and produce. In the evening, we will return back to Colle Val d’Elsa.

Day 3 – Departure

Before leaving, enjoy breakfast buffet at the Palazzo San Lorenzo Hotel and then proceed to checkout.
