Enjoy visiting the highlights of the Mediterranean’s largest island in this 8 day escorted tour of Sicily. You’ll see the cities of Palermo, Agrigento, Trapani, and Catania among others, as well as a host of natural attractions! The tour is a round trip of the island, starting and ending in Palermo.
Day 1: Palermo
Arrive in Palermo and meet the other guests taking part to the tour. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel.
Day 2: Palermo – Monreale – (Erice) – Palermo
After breakfast at the hotel, this 8 day escorted tour of Sicily kicks off properly on day two, as you head to the pretty town of Monreale from Palermo. After seeing the famous cloisters and mosaics of Monreale, you’ll go back to Palermo to discover the main attractions of this baroque city. You will have the chance to admire the Cathedral and the Palatine Chapel, which is part of the Royal Palace. After that, you will join a panoramic tour of the city. Then, it will be time for a good lunch at the hotel. You will have free time in the afternoon, to explore the city on your own. As an alternative you can choose an optional tour to the charming village of Erice (not included in the tour, the extra cost has to be paid on the spot). Dinner and overnight at the Hotel.
Day 3: Palermo – Segesta – Trapani – Agrigento
Day three sees you leave Palermo to continue your 8 day escorted tour of Sicily. You’ll have excellent views of the landscape surrounding Segesta from the Doric Temple, so don’t forget to take your camera! After that, it’s onto the famous Salt Pans towards Trapani, before arriving to Segesta. Here you will first enjoy a traditional lunch at a farmhouse, with olive olive tasting. Then, you will head onto arguably the highlight of the whole tour – a visit to the Valley of the Temples, where you will admire the imposing Greek Temple, among the best preserved in the world. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel.
Day 4: Agrigento – Piazza Armerina – Catania
After breakfast, we head to Piazza Armerina, to visit Villa Romana del Casale, famous for its huge area of well-preserved Roman mosaics. After the visit, lunch in a local restaurant and head to Catania, Sicily’s second biggest city. Here, there will be also time for a tasty break, before admiring the city ona great panoramic tour. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel in Catania.
Day 4: Catania – Etna – Taormina – Catania
Another highlight of the trip on day five – an excursion on the highest active volcano in Europe, the Mount Etna. We willl climb from "Rifugio Sapienza" (1800mt) up to the Crateri Silvestri. You'll take in unusual landscapes and stunning flora and fauna in the area. After that, lunch in a famrhouse where we will tast the most famous Sicilian dishes. Later in the day, you’ll visit Taormina, probably the most elegant Sicilian cities where you can enjoy some free time to visit on your own the Grekke theatre or to enjoy the views of Etna and the Ionian Sea. Return to Catania, dinner and overnight at the Hotel.
Day 6: Catania – Siracusa – Noto – Catania
After breakfast at your hotel, head to Syracuse and enjoy a guided tour of this venerable city highlights the Archaeological Park, Greek Theater, Latomia del Paradiso and Cave of Dyonisius' Ear. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, continue to Noto to admire the Cathedral wich has been renovated after many years. Back to Catania for dinner and overnight at the Hotel.
Day 7: Catania - Messina - Cefalù - Palermo
On the final full day of your 8 day escorted tour of Sicily, you’ll head back to Palermo but with beautiful views of the Messina Strait. You will stop in Messina for a panoramic tour of the city and then the tour keeps on to Cefalù a beautiful little fishing village, where you will first have lunch, then you will have time to visit the beautiful Norman Cathedral and for strolling around the village on your own. After that, return to Palermo for dinner and overnight at the Hotel.
Day 8: Palermo
Breakfast at the hotel before you say your goodbyes and take your onward journey!
