Excursion of 5 days in the South of Sicily, departing from Catania

Prepare for an exciting escorted tour around Sicily. From Catania to Syracuse, Ragusa, Palermo and other wonderful destinations, for an unforgettable journey through the colors and the flavors of an island rich in culture, history, art and natural wonders.

Day 1: Catania

Independent arrival in Catania (contact us for a quotation for a private transfer from the airport - extra cost, not included in the price of the tour). After a welcome cocktail, dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Syracuse - Modica (visit of a chocolate factory) - Ragusa

After breakfast at the hotel, you will travel to Syracuse, the most beautiful of the former Greek colonies. Here, you will visit the archaeological park of Neapolis, where you will find the famous  Latomie of the Paradise and the legendary "ear" of Dionysus. Afterwards you visit the island of Ortigia, the small historic center of Syracuse, where you will admire the Cathedral and the beautiful Aretusa Fountain. Free time for lunch on your own (lunch NOT included).
In the afternoon, depart to Modica, Capital of the Baroque art and part of UNESCO Heritage Sites. Visit inside a real chocolate factory to discover the techniques leading to the production of chocolate. It will also be possible to create, with your hands, own bar of Chocolate.
At the end of the day, you will reach Ragusa. Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight*.
 
*Optional: visit "by night" of the ancient city Ragusa "Ibla", cradle of Sicilian baroque, with its Cathedral, situated in the beautiful square of the Dome and the "giardino Ibleo" (supplement to be paid on the spot; the excursion will take place with a minimum of participants).
 

Day 3: Piazza Armerina - Agrigento

After breakfast, you will reach Piazza Armerina, where you will visit the Villa Romana del Casale, which houses the world's largest collection of late Roman mosaics, declared UNESCO heritage. 
After lunch at a local restaurant, you will leave for Agrigento to visit the Valley of the Temples, an archaeological site characterized by the exceptional state of preservation of its temples, including the Temple of Concord, the Temple of Juno and the Temple of Jupiter and Hercules.
At the end of the tour, dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Monreale - Palermo

After breakfast, you will depart to Palermo. Arrival in Monreale and visit of its famous Cathedral (one of the most beautiful monuments of the world, with its Moorish architecture, housing very fine mosaics representing a complete cycle of the Old and New Testaments) and the Benedictine cloister in Arab-Norman style. Free time for lunch on your own (lunch NOT included).
Proceed to Palermo and enjoy Palermo's street food, one of the most renowned all over the world, while wandering around its historical centre. Then visit the historical centre, one of the largest of Europe, including the Cathedral, the Palace of the Normans and its superb Palatine Chapel.
Accommodation, dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Palermo

Breakfast at the hotel and end of the tour (contact us for a quotation for a private transfer to the airport).
