Description: 

Travel through Sicily with this unmissable tour which will show you the beauty of a land with different cultures and dominations. Sicily has for centuries fascinated rulers and sailors, poets and writers, conquering the hearts of all irreversibly. Starting from Palermo, continue towards Marsala, Erice, Agrigento, Noto, Siracusa, Catania and Taormina.

Day 1: Palermo

This is your expected day of your arrival in Palermo, and you are supposed to arrange for your own transportation that will take you to the hotel of your choice. You are to have dinner in the hotel and go to bed early so that you can have enough rest for the next day's adventure.

Day 2: Palermo

After breakfast, you head out to Monreale via a morning excursion train. The town of Monreale is well-known for its citrus fruits, almonds as well as olive oil, and was recently added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. Its first-rate Norman architecture is second to none. You will have time to pay a visit to the beautiful Cathedral of Monreale as well as shop for souvenirs and the local deli. An attraction like the Palermo Cathedral is worth a visit, and as you explore the city, you will be well-informed about the history of Palermo which dates back as far as 3,000 years. Return to your hotel for dinner and stay overnight.

Day 3: Palermo to Erice, Marsala, and Agrigento

After an early breakfast, you depart for a medieval village called Erice, which many people have claimed that it has virtually remained the same since the sixth century. This makes the twistsof lanes in the village very conducive for a morning walk. From there, you proceed to a coastal town called Marsala, situated in the western part of Sicily. You will have enough time to strollleisurely through the town, then moving on to Agrigento, having passed by the closest Sicilian city to Africa known as Mazara del Vallo. This is your final destination for the day so that you can take in the sights of the monuments and ruins of Ancient Greece at the Valley Temples. In the evening, you check in to your hotel for the night.

Day 4: Agrigento to Noto, Siracusa, Taormina

After breakfast, you will take a trip to Noto, which is a charming little fishing village where the recently restored Cathedral of San Nicolo is located. Continuing along the south coast, arriving in Syracuse. The city is famous for the archaeological park of Neapolis, which collects a treasure of greek-Roman ruins of inestimable value, characterized by a thick vegetation and monuments of great historical importance: the greek theater, the Roman Amphitheater and the Dionisio Ear, cave dug with acoustic amplification. After the visit, cross the bridge in the city for a visit to the island of Ortigia, the oldest part of Syracuse, home to historic churches and buildings adorned by magnificent baroque art. Then travel to Taormina in the late afternoon and check into your hotel.

Day 5: Taormina (Giardini Naxos)

Enjoy breakfast and then visit Mount Etna, the highest mountain in Italy and still active volcano in Europe. The weather will determine whether you will climb to the summit. Spend your day leisurely and enjoy your dinner at the end of the day.

Day 6: Taormina to Savoca, Forza D'Agrò, and Catania

Enjoy your breakfast, and then travel to Savoca and Forza D'Agrò, the hillside villages where the movie trilogy "Godfather" was filmed. You can also have a stop at "Vitelli" bar, still family run despite several scenes filmed by Coppola in "The Godfather II" that have made it a "must" place to visit; you can also browse through different photos made by the family with the actors. This will give you an insight into the lifestyles of the Sicilian villagers. After a little exploration, visit Catania to see the Roman ruins and other historical sites.

Day 7: Catania

Today, the tour comes to an end after you enjoy one last breakfast.
