We will take you on a historical guided tour through the historical Alberobello. Here, you will see the preserved ancient houses, the trulli. You will also visit the only trullo church of Alberobello. And then you will embark to one of the most beautiful villages of Italy in Locorontondo.
Alberobello was once a forestry area that was filled with beautiful oaks and beech trees. Due to its fertile soil and agricultural landscape, soon it was used for agricultural activities and a little settlement began to appear. Your guide will re-hatch the history of how Alberobello was discovered and from whence the community came about. As you learn of the history of Alberobello, do not miss out on the folklore traditions. We will also take you to the only trullo form church Sant’Antonio.
Trullo was first thought to have existed in the prehistoric time. However, the oldest trullo is in Alberobello, dating back to the 14th century. These white-washed cone-shaped roofs are a wonder to behold. Its limestone construction has made these ancient houses a cool place to live in during the summer and provides heat during the winter time. As our guide shows you the construction techniques of a trullo, learn the status symbol of a trullo.
After a guided tour through Alberobello, you will embark towards Locorotondo, ranked as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. The city is known for its DOC sparkling wine production and its circular structure that is set upon a mound. It is also located deep in the Ithria Valley. Our guide will show you Locorotondo’s heritage such as, the Mother Church of St. George the Martyr, the Romanesque Church of Our Lady and the labyrinth white alleyways with houses topped with pitched roofs. To enjoy the breath-taking charm of this quaint village, you will then enjoy an Apulian lunch at one of the local restaurants.
