Day Trip to Roman Castles with Food Tasting and History Tour from Rome

An amazing food and culture tour, departing from Rome, among the most beautiful hill towns in Castelli Romani (Roman Castles). Our first will be Castel Gandolfo: this town is considered among the most beautiful in Italy, famous for being the Summer residence of the Pope.

A day excursion from Rome to discover the Castelli Romani area

This amazing tour from Rome includes the transfer from the Capital to Castel Gandolfo. The stop is about 30 minutes long and you will have time to visit the heart of this town and to take lots of wonderful pictures from the streets to Lake Albano. If you would like, there's enough time to buy souvenirs. But Castel Gandolfo is just the first stop!
The second stop is in Ariccia town. We will park in Piazza di Corte, also known as “Piazza della Repubblica”, a famous square created by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, the architect of St. Peter's Square in Rome during the XVII century. On this square you can see some of the most important buildings in Ariccia, such as the Church of Santa Maria Assunta and Palazzo Chigi.

Taste a typical lunch in a wonderful location

Third stop of this unforgettable trip from Rome will be Nemi town, famous for its delicious wild strawberries. We will have lunch at "Locanda Lo Specchio di Diana", on a terrace with a great view of the Lake of Nemi.
The lunch is based completely on typical products of the Castelli Romani, so you can have a real tasting of this luscious cuisine: tasting of local meats, first course to choose among pappardelle with hare sauce, tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms and ravioli with meat and pink sauce, cakes with cream and wild strawberries (typical from Nemi town).

Visit a local farm to really live the countryside life

After lunch, we will do some biological products shopping at the Iacchelli Farm in Velletri town, not far from Nemi. You can buy lots of local products, to bring home with you all the best of our cuisine. How about a bottle of wine with Cantucci (delicious twice-baked cookies)?
After the shopping we will drive you back to Rome, leaving from the farm in Velletri.
